COMMONWEALTH NATIONAL BANK EXPANDS MARKET AREA TO INCLUDE
BIRMINGHAM, MONTGOMERY, AND HUNTSVILLE WITH LOAN PRODUCTION OFFICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JUNE 14, 2009
For More Information Contact: Tyrone Fenderson, Jr. at (251) 476-5938
MOBILE, AL — Commonwealth National Bank has expanded its market area to include the
central and northern Alabama markets.
Commonwealth now offers business and personal loans in Montgomery, Birmingham,
Huntsville, and surrounding areas. The regional office is intended to provide borrower’s in the area
with access to the lending products that have become difficult to find.
Tyrone Fenderson, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Commonwealth says, “We
believe that Commonwealth has a role to play in the economic recovery of the state of Alabama. It
is with a strong sense of responsibility that we respond to the financing needs in our traditional
market area, as well as areas in the state that naturally coincide with our expansion plan. With
businesses and individuals having trouble making payroll and financing projects, our strength and
stability dictates that we answer the call by providing the access to capital that helped them achieve
their financial goals prior to the economic downturn. While we remain concerned about the duration
and severity of the recession, we know that capable and responsible borrower’s exist, while the
banking relationship they once enjoyed does not.”
As the expansion plan for Commonwealth is implemented, the company will further add
stimulus to the local economy through the addition of jobs in these areas. Potential borrowers can
learn more about the financial products and services offered by visiting Commonwealth at:
www.ecommonwealthbank.com or by calling (205) 382-6631 (Birmingham), (334) 578-0857
(Montgomery), or (256) 886-2771 (Huntsville).
Commonwealth National Bank, founded in 1976 and headquartered in Mobile, has three fullservice
locations in the Mobile metro area including a newly-opened downtown office at 200 St.
Joseph Street, and a fourth drive-thru location in nearby Prichard.
COMMONWEALTH NATIONAL BANK DECLARES DIVIDENDS FOR EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MARCH 31, 2009
For More Information Contact: Tyrone Fenderson, Jr. at (251) 476-5938
• MOBILE, AL — Commonwealth National Bank Chairman, Michael E. Pierce,
announced that the Board of Directors declared a dividend of $0.05 per share, payable on
April 1, 2009 to shareholders of record as of February 28, 2009. This marks the eighth
consecutive year that Commonwealth National Bank will pay a dividend to its
shareholders. In 2008, Commonwealth paid a dividend of $0.40 per share (the effective
cash dividend after a 5-for-1 stock split). The Annual Shareholders Meeting will be held
on April 28, 2009 at Commonwealth National Bank’s main office located at 2214 St.
Stephens Road in Mobile.
The reduction in the cash dividend is a product of prudent management as
Commonwealth takes measures to preserve capital in an economic environment that is
uncertain and has led to the elimination of dividends by many financial institutions
around the country. “As we prepare to diversify the composition of our revenue stream
through a higher level of lending activity, we will continue to create efficiencies and reduce
expenses without impacting our product delivery and quality service offering” says Tyrone
Fenderson, Jr., President & CEO.
Commonwealth’s safety and soundness has earned them a “four-star” rating from
Bauer Financial and has made it possible for Commonwealth to forgo Troubled Assets
Relief Program (TARP) funding. The TARP funding is available to ailing financial
institutions whose profitability has plummeted amid an economic crisis that has led to
increased levels of nonperforming assets and historic levels of loan losses.
Commonwealth National Bank, established in 1976, continues to meet the banking
needs of the Mobile community and surrounding areas by offering comprehensive
banking services, competitive rates, providing high-touch personalized service, and
supporting causes that impact the community and its subsequent health. Commonwealth
has offices in Mobile, Crichton, and Prichard and is scheduled to open its fourth office in
downtown Mobile later this year.
